With the New Year, we all make New Year’s Resolutions, and a lot of times those include losing weight, working out more, of times those include losing weight, working out more, and eating better. However, a lot of times, our resolutions only get us so far into the year and we fall off the wagon after a week or a month. Well, usually by the end of February most resolutions have hit the trash can and we are back to where we were at the end of last year. So how can we be more successful when our resolutions are all about being a better YOU? Have you ever tried working out with a partner?
Those that work out with a partner tend to work out twice as long and will lose us to ten pounds more than those who work out alone. There are quite a few reasons why working out with a partner is more successful, but here is the top 3:
1. It’s more FUN!
When you work out with a partner, you tend to have more fun because you aren’t alone. You will stick with it longer because of this, which will get you better results.
2. Accountability. When you are working out with someone, you will stick with your workouts because you scheduled them with someone. You are less likely to bail on a workout if someone is counting on you to show up and work out with them. It will also make you more accountable with clean eating and it will become a habit. It’s less likely that you will quit after a week or two when something becomes a habit.
3. Competition. Okay, so not a literal competition, but when you work out with someone, you will push yourself just a little harder. The intensity that you put into the workout will be greater than if you are working out alone. You will also work out longer because you have your partner to push you.
Get out there and partner up with a friend, a family member, or someone you met at the gym and give yourself that extra little push that will get you the results you promised to yourself at the beginning of the year! YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL!
