Polar Plunge 2015 = SUCCESS!
This past Saturday, Dan and Roger joined more than 70 others and did some Freazin’ for a Reason! The Grand Lake St. Mary’s Ohio Polar Plunge raised over $25,000! All proceeds from the Polar Plunge goes to the Special Olympics Ohio.
The mission of Special Olympics Ohio is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities by giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
There were a total of 9 different plunges held throughout Ohio, which started January 24 and continues through March 21, 2015. Celina Moose Lodge #1473 hosted the Grand Lake St. Mary’s plunge. Great turnout of daring participants and eager spectators. Prior to the plunge was an individual and costume contest.
Preferred Insurance would like to extend a special ‘thank-you’ to all who donated towards the cause. With everyone’s help, we were able to present $1,740 the day of the plunge. How awesome!? Unfortunately, we did not reach our goal of $3,000, therefore Dan and Roger were off the hook of wearing the flamingo outfits while making the plunge. There is always next year though! 😉
