Should You Have Earthquake Insurance?

Ohio and earthquake insurance? | Ohio Insurance

With all the earthquake activity in Napa and other places in the world, we’ve had a few people asking us about earthquake insurance.  We did a little research, and it turns out our part of Ohio has quite a bit of activity.  The map below shows earthquakes in Ohio since 1850.  I’ve always heard that we were “movers and shakers”, but I didn’t realize it was so literally true.

Earthquake is not part of a standard Ohio Homeowners insurance policy.  If you want the coverage, you need to give us a call.  It also has a 5% or 10% deductible.  That means if you have $250,000 coverage on your home, your earthquake deductible will be either $12,500 or $25,000.
